Salutation and prostrations to Mother Maha Lakshmi. The God as mother, Goddess of wealth. At the time of churning of ocean by Devas and Danavs Gods and Demons joint venture of Samudra Mantahn; Sri Lakshmi appeared from the ocean, hence known as a daughter of ocean (Samudra Tanaya). She came out adorning the Lotus flower, hence she is known as Padmajata also.

Sri Lakshmi is normally known as Sri Lakshmi, Maha Lakshmi, Vaibhav Lakshmi, Adi Lakshmi, Dhanya Lakshmi, Gaj Lakshmi, Dhairya Lakshmi, Santan Lakshmi, Vijay Lakshmi, Dhan Lakshmi, Subha Lakshmi and Ashubha Lakshmi.

She is famous for power or strength of power original, Goddess Primordial, Goddess of Children, Goddess of Grain or Food, Goddess of Wealth, Goddess of Patience, Goddess of Knowledge, Goddess of Wisdom, and Goddess of Victory etc.

But last two Swaroopa or the forms are very essential to be understood that Subha Lakshmi and Ashubha Lakshmi, that Lakshmi of auspiciousness and inauspiciousness or Lakshmi with divinity or Lakshmi with devilish treat.

In 16th Chapter of Bhagavad Gita Lord Sri Krishna has very clearly explained in detail the nature of both.  Divine treasure or wealth of mankind, are Fearlessness, Purity of heart, Steadfastness in the yoga of Knowledge, Charity, Control of the Senses, Performance of Sacrifice, study of the Vedas or holy scriptures, Straightforwardness, Non Violence, Truthfulness, freedom from Anger, Renunciation, Peacefulness, absence of Crookedness, Compassion for all Living Beings, non covetousness, gentleness, modesty, steady determination, vigor, forgiveness, fortitude, cleanliness from envy and absence of pride are the virtues of Lakshmi or in other words to have these virtues means to have or possession of the great wealth or real Lakshmi or "Subha Lakshmi."

Where as just opposite to it "Ashubha Lakshmi" means, neither purity, nor proper behavior, nor truth, no moral, no ethics, filled with insatiable lust, full of hypocrisy, absorbed in the conceit of pride and arrogance, delusion and full of evil thoughts or ideas, all impure resolves and impermanent nature.

"Subha Lakshmi" brings joy, peace, harmony blessedness, natural love, feeling for fellow beings and up liftment of the mankind.  It’s full of SATWA.

Where as "Ashubha Lakshmi" creates chaos, problem, brings pain, agony and destroys the equilibrium.

Hence Lakshmi Pooja or the worship of Goddess of wealth, is to eradicate vices and to cultivate virtues. To abide in all auspiciousness and to be free from all unpleasant or unwanted harmful elements, thoughts and behavior of the society.

Upcoming of Lakshmi is in coming of all Divinity, all heavenly, all serenity and purity.

Let us seek that Supreme Blessedness’s grace upon this Lakshmi Pooja day and celebration Deepavali in real sense.

Om Shanti.
