OM Namo Bhagavate  Sivanandaya!
OM Namo Bhagavate Chidanandaya!

New Year Message by Sri Swami Sivananda

"By the command of the Indestructible Being, minutes, hours, days and nights, stand apart. By the command of the Immortal Brahman, months, years, seasons and solstices stand apart. He who knows this Indestructible Being is a liberated sage or Jivanmukta.

Time rolls on. New becomes old and old becomes new again. Today is the most auspicious New Year’s day. God has given you another chance this year to enable you to strive for your salvation. Today man is. Tomorrow he is not. Therefore avail yourself of this golden opportunity, struggle hard and reach the goal of life. Make the best use of every moment of this New Year. Unfold all latent faculties. Here is a chance to begin life anew, to grow and evolve and become a superhuman or a great dynamic Yogi."- Swami Sivananda << More> >

Early Morning Meditation talk from "Ponder These Truths " by Swami Chidananda
Connect Yourself with God
You must keep in contact with the source of your being, be ever linked and connected with the origin from which you are. Then, day by day, your spirit will begin to unfold. It will grow, develop, progress, expand, and you will attain divine experience. You will become divine."

"But when there is no connection, or you have alienated yourself from It, or forgotten It, or thought of yourself as something independent, then you are full of sorrow and anxiety, pain and suffering, misery and fear. You are full of a sense of want. Why? Because you have unwisely cut yourself off from the source of your being. The secret of a progressive and fruitful life is to be inwardly ever linked with God, linked with the Cosmic Being."

"Keep that connection either through enquiry and discrimination, or through constant unbroken remembrance of God and devotion, or through meditation and continuously thinking about Brahman, or through worshipfully dedicating all activities to Him. Do it by whatever means, but by any means do it!"  - Swami Chidananda <<More>>

New Year 2013 Greetings by Sri Swami Adhyatmananda
Yoga Learning from a Book  "Yoga, A way of Life" from Swami Adhyatmananda

Sheetali and Shidhkari Pranayam:  The word "sheetali" means cooling in Sanskrit, it is taken from the original word "Sheetal" which is soothing or cold. The practice of sheetali breathing calms the mind, reduces the stress. It cools the body and mind, The blood pressure is also lowered. This pranayama is very effective in hyper acidity or even ulcers.
Sit in Padmasana or Cross legged position in which the body can be relaxed and spine is erect. Then start inhaling through mouth by rolling the tongue, make sure that the air passing in is cooled via tongue. Initially 4 seconds inhale through mouth while rolling the tongue and exhale for 6 seconds through both nostrils, this can be practiced for about 5 minutes. With practice one can increase the counts to 4:8, or 5:10 or 6:12 seconds. << More>>

To those whose minds are set on Me, O Arjuna, verily I become ere long the saviour out of the ocean of the mortal Samsara!( XII:7)

Fix thy mind on Me only, thy intellect in Me, (then) thou shait no doubt live in Me alone hereafter.(XII: 8)

Free from pride and delusion, victorious over the evil of attachment, dwelling constantly in the Self, their desires having completely turned away, freed from the pairs of opposites known as pleasure and pain, the undeluded reach the eternal goal. (XV : 5)

To those men who worship Me alone, thinking of no other, of those ever united, I secure what is not already possessed and preserve what they already possess.(IX:22)

Whatever thou doest, whatever thou eatest, whatever thou offerest in sacrifice, whatever thou givest, whatever thou practiseth as austerity, O Arjuna, do it as an offering unto Me!( IX:27)

Abandoning all duties, take refuge in Me alone; I will liberate thee from all sins; grieve not.(XVIII:66)
