86^th Birthday of Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj, at Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad (Gujarat) India.

 The 86^th Birthday of H.H. Sri Gurudev Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj, President of the Divine Life Society, was celebrated at Sri Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad on 22^nd, 23^rd and 24^th of September. On 22^nd and 23^rd two grand public meetings- satsangs were organized by devotees in two different areas of the city. Rev. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj spoke very elaborately upon the philosophy and teachings of Sri Gurudev Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj. 

In first discourse at the lawn of St. Xavier’s College annex, Rev. Swamiji emphasized upon introspection. Rev. Swamiji said ‘Be Parikshit’ look within. Dive deep in the recess of the heart to find the pearls of wisdom. Individual ego’s false understanding of the self, jealousy and hate are the root cause of disharmony of the society. To be kind to all, in any condition, in any situation is the only key to receive the grace of ‘CHIDANANDA’- The Supreme or Brahman. Very large audience attended Satsang and a grand Bhandara (Dinner) was served after the holy Satsang. 

On 23^rd September Sunday from morning 7-00 a.m. to 5-00 p.m. Mrutyunjaya Mantra chanting was done for the peace of the world as well as for Rev. Sri Gurudev’s good health, long life so that His physical presence grace the mankind for many more years to come.  Evening satsang was organized in a beautiful auditorium near famous Kakaria Lake of the city. Rev. Sri Swamiji very eloquently gave the insight on the very practical subject of ‘Sadhana for House Holder’. Dr. Bharat Bhagat, specialist in Cerebral & Spinal Surgery also spoke on “The Teachings of Sages of the Yore and the Present Age”.  The function became colourful with Bharat Natyam Dance performed by Miss Archi and  concluded with grand feast offered to about a thousand devotees. Feeding to the poor and the downtrodden was organized. Bhandara was specially organized for lepers in their colonies. 

The actual day of happy birthday i.e. on 24^th September Rev. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj and all yoga-sadhana lovers assembled in the lawn of Sivananda Ashram at Brahma-Muhurta for a group prayer and meditation. Special Pooja, Archana and Abhishek were offered in the holy Sri Vishwanath Mandir with Vaidik chants for the well-being of Sri Gurudev Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj. There was a special satsang in the evening with the round of chants- Gurustotra, Shantipath, and recitation from the Bhagavad Gita etc. At the same time very elaborate worship of Padukas were performed Of Sri Sad-Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj as well Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj. A video film was shown to have darshan of Sri Gurudev as well Mother Ganga and holy Sri Sivananda Ashram. 

Night satsang was devoted to discourses, in which speakers elaborated on the good life and good work of Sri Gurudev and prayed for His health, long life and all-round prosperity as well His grace upon all His lovers and followers. 

In his personal message to devotees, seekers and to the rest of world, Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj gave the quintessence the life and the teachings of Sri Gurudev Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj that would well fit into the good and an enlightened life of any aspiring Soul, and by emulating the examples from His life one would make considerable progress in spiritual path. It needs no reiteration that the life of Sri Gurudev Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj has been right from his early days, one of severe personal austerity, unasked goodness and kindness of heart, and a general charitableness of approach in everything. His message to mankind is thus, embodied what Rev. Sri Gurudev lived and continues to live. The life of man is to be adorned with honesty of purpose, purity of motive, strictness in discipline, soundness of character, humility in conduct, faithful obedience to the higher divine laws, and a kind and merciful feelings towards other living beings, - all to be enlivened and vitalized by an intense aspirations for God-realisation.  Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj shared this wonderful message of Rev. Birthday dedication by a Devotee “CHIDANANDAM”

Light distilled in the mist oar’s Ganga
Pushed up a shadow sine-a – qua (At Sandhya)
Sun’s scoure exists shadow?
Can a shadow hold light?
This one I saw sure did.
Do Shadows have Substance?
This one had for instance.
Depth, Light and breadth of dimension
How come! It’s familiar! Illusion?
Blessed it is illusion or hallucination
Ascending heights it grew – the shadow.
A strange telescoping of the past in the present.
It spoke the words of old,
Gurudev’s world designed bold,
Oddly new- the voice! It’s the shadow’s
Nay! Not a shadow this! This glowing form!
Fresh from the lap of Mother Ganga Holy.
Like flames of sacred “Havan” rising slowly.
The vigour of youth in thought and deed.
This is no shadow but “youth” indeed.
What a meta – mor – physic!
From youth the old man unforeseen
This is no shadow, but reflection
Of the Blue Boy of Brindavan – Krishna
In SadGurudev’s grace, His own shadow-
Sat Chit – Ananda. “ Ala- Mast”,
Hail Chidananda! Blessed most.
Thou’rt the very shadow of Sri Gurudev
Deeply humble and in all his very Bhav,
Spare us your shadow, Gurudev!
But for another hundred years!
