"The Teachings of Lord Sri Dattatreya
on auspicious Sri Dattatreya Jayanti (Dec 2, 2009)

"Lord Dattatreya -  He was a supreme yogi. Like Dakshinamurti, He was the adi guru, the primal world teacher. Contemplate His life. Meditate upon Him. Feel His divine presence. Evoke in your mind the sacred memory of Sati Anasuya and Atri Maharshi, the power of chastity, and divine grace in the form of Divinity taking birth at the earnest supplication and prayer of a heart filled with devotion. The earnest prayer of a heart filled with devotion never goes unanswered or unfulfilled. This is what the advent, the avatara of Dattatreya represents or proves."- Sri Swami Chidananda << More>>

Early Morning Meditation talks from" Ponder These Truths" by Sri  Swami Chidananda

Start the Day in an Ideal Way

" In his first Spiritual Instruction, Gurudev says get up at 4.00 A.M., brahmamuhurta; it is very favourable for spiritual practices. Why get up? So that you may sit on padma, siddha or sukha asana for japa and meditation. You get up in order to think of God, remember Him, take His Name, direct your mind and focus it on Him. This is the way to start the day ".......
.... "Gurudev gives us the ideal way of entering into a new day. First, get up early in the morning. Then start the day by sitting for japa and meditation: “Start the day with God. End the day with God. Fill the day with God. This is the way to God.” It means this is the way to bliss, to peace, to perfection, to illumination. For God is only a symbolic word summing up all that is supreme, all that is blessed, all that is most auspicious, all that is most desirable, all that human beings everywhere covet, crave for, seek for—the sum totality of human aspirations and deep desires " .... <<More>>

Bhastrika Pranayama

The meaning of the Sanskrit word ‘Bhastrika’ is ‘Bellows’, thus the Bhastrika Pranayama is called the ‘bellows breath’. This form of breathing increases the flow of air into the body to produce inner heat at the physical and subtle level.
Bhastrika breathing is a dynamic and highly energizing abdominal breathing exercise requiring a large expenditure of physical energy. It is accomplished by breathing abdominally at the rate of 1-4 breaths per second, with inhalations and exhalations equally emphasized and equally active. << More>>

News & Activity Report for the Month of November 2009
Divya Jivan (Gujarati)/ November 2009

So Says Swami Sivananda

  • The language of silence is more forcible than the language of speech. Observance of silence or Mouna daily for two hours is very necessary to conserve the energy that is wasted in useless controversies and debates and idle gossips.
  • Silence develops will-power, checks the force of sankalpa and gives peace of mind. It removes anxieties and quarrels .

  • Conserve speech for the praise of GOD.
