Diabetes Camp for Children conducted at Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad.

Diabetes is a life-long disease of high blood sugar caused by too little insulin, resistance to insulin, or both. People with diabetes have high blood glucose. This is because their pancreas does not make enough insulin, or their muscle, fat and liver do not respond to insulin normally, or both. Diabetes can't be cured, but it can be controlled and one can live normal and fulfilling life with proper care. The treatment varies according to how much insulin the body makes, and how well the body is able to use available insulin.

The immediate goals of treatment are to stabilize metabolism by treating ketoacidosis (also called diabetic ketoacidosis and DKA) and high blood glucose. Long-term goals of treatment are to prolong life, improve the quality of life and prevent diabetes-related complications such as blindness, kidney failure and amputation of limbs.

These goals are accomplished through education, insulin, meal planning and weight control, exercise, self-testing of blood glucose, foot care and careful monitoring of blood glucose levels, said the leading Diabetic specialist of the town Dr.Mayur Patel at the camp organized for the diabetic children at Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad on September 29.

Swami Adhyatmananda, head of the local chapter of the Divine Life Society taught very simple Yogic postures and amused children of all ages who gathered at Sivananda Ashram, from all four corners of Gujarat, on September 29 morning.

Dr. Gumasta, a leading social reformer and dietician from Baroda with the collaboration of Dr. Mrs. Ina Mayur Patel gave an essential dietary counseling, teaching of self-blood glucose testing and self-insulin injections in very playful manner, which children enjoyed very much.  Blood testing, eye examinations medical counseling, was done by team of Para Medical staff.  Varieties of Games were arranged and prizes were given to one and all those who attended the camp.

Joint survey made by Dr. Mayur Patel and Swami Adhyatmanandaji highlighted that those children who attended the previous diabetic camp one and half year ago, followed the given instructions, were found to have better diabetic control,  living complete and fuller life.

Mr. Ashok Bhatt, minister for health Govt. of Gujarat said that every year his office organizes medical checkup of all the schools of urban areas through out the Gujarat.  This year they found more than 1000 children with cardiac, Liver and kidney diseases who were undiagnosed and they were given further care and needed treatment. At the same time Mr. Ashok Bhatt offered his services that hence forward at the earliest possible they would make diabetic check up for the children thoughout Gujarat. Mr. Ashok Bhatt praised the wonderful and purposeful services done by Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad.  He also promised that all essential support would be extended to Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj’s work for the service of mankind.

Visit to Valsad  branch Of Divine Life Society –September 20/21, 2002

The Divine Life Society, Valsad Branch invited Rev. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj for 2 day’s quick visit on September 20 and September 21.  On September 20, evening satsang was organized at Nandigram near Valsad. An eminent saint poet Sri Makrandbhai Dave and Respected Kundanika Kapadia were present.  They exchanged thoughts regarding the complete study of metaphysics and the higher values of life spiritual. They discussed the matter upon “In quantum physics”.  Quantum coherence means that subatomic particles are able to co-operate.  These subatomic waves or particles not only know about each other, but also are highly inter-linked by bands of common electromagnetic field, so that they can communicate together.  They are like a multitude of tuning forks that all begin resonating together.  As the waves get into phase or synch, they begin acting like one giant wave and one giant subatomic particle.  It becomes difficult to differentiate many of the weird quantum effects seen in a single wave apply to the whole.  Something done to one of them will affect the others.

Coherence establishes communication.  It’s like a subatomic telephone network.  The better the coherence, the finer the telephone network and the more refined wave patterns have telephone. The end result is also a bit like a large orchestra.  All the photons are playing together but as individual instruments that are able to carry on playing individual parts.  Nevertheless, when you are listening, it’s difficult to pick out any one instrument.”

On auspicious morning of September 21, Saturday a YAG LASER machine worth of Rs. 12 lakhs was dedicated  for the service of needy and poor tribal of the Valsad District. Rev. Swamiji lit the lamp, dedicated the YAG LASER machine and was honored by Sri Bharat Desai Managing Trustee, and a leading chartered Accountant of Gujarat.  In the introductory and thanks giving address, Shri Bharat Desai said that until now for the laser treatment they were sending patients to Surat Govt. Hospital but it is due to hard work  of Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj and sincere efforts of the Divine Life Society Valsad, this wonderful service is made available at home now. This money of Rs. 12 lakhs (Rs. 1.2 million) was raised last year during Shrimad Bhagwat Katha by Rev. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj.   Rev. Swamiji spoke on the occasion that let the service be an attitude of our each individual being to make a befitting aptitude of the life.
