Key to Bliss -  "Meditation on OM"  from Mandukya Upnishad

"OM, the word, is all this. Its further explanation is this. All that is past, present and future is verily OM. That which is beyond the triple conception of time, is verily OM."

ln this Upanishad, Varuna, the Lord of waters assumes the form of a frog (Manduka) and praises OM. Varuna is the Rishi or Reveler of this Upanishad. Brahman is the Devata; Anushtup is the metre. The person qualified to study this Upanishad is anyone who wants to attain Liberation.

OM, the Pranava, the Omkara is the only symbol of Brahman, the Absolute. Just as a sick man regains his equilibrium when the cause of the disease vanishes, so also the Jiva, the individual soul regains his equilibrium, the original state of pristine glory or divine splendor, oneness or unity with the Supreme Self when the illusion of duality caused by ignorance is destroyed by the knowledge of the Self.

The sacred monosyllable OM is the only name of Brahman, the Supreme Soul. Brahman is nameless but in the relative plane a name is necessary for giving instructions to the aspirants. Even the highest Brahman is realized by means of a name only.

"OM is this;" "OM is the support;" "OM is Brahman;" "OM is the Akshara, the immortal;" "OM is the Atman;" "OM is pure Chaitanya Consciousness;" "The word OM is all;" "One should, with purity of heart, fix his mind on the Atman through OM which is the Atman"- these texts of the Upanishads declare that OM, Brahman and the Atman are one and the same. - Swami Sivananda << Read More>>

Early Morning Meditation talks from" Ponder These Truths"

"Surrender" - " It is our ego-sense that we surrender, the idea “I am doing.” We surrender our self-will and put ourselves into His hands, so that we act as He dictates, we act as He teaches. So action is there, but no more self-will, no more action prompted by the mind, but action according to the will of God, according to the wisdom teachings of God and His saints."

Surrender and activity do not conflict with each other, but are part and parcel of a total act of spiritualising yourself completely, stepping aside and asking God to take over. If God takes over, everything is under control, everything is working perfectly. If we are there, nothing is under control—mind is not under control, senses are not under control, everything is upside down. When you put yourself under the will of God and His wisdom teachings, then you are a self-controlled person. You will not allow the senses to do whatever they wish or the mind to do whatever it wishes. You will only do that which is in accordance with the will of God, the teachings of God and the saints. If it is not in consonance with the will of God and the teachings of the saints, you will not do it." - Swami Chidananda   << Read More>>

Learning of  "Jeevan Yog" from a Yoga Acharya Swami Adhyatmananda
Through TV episodes of "Jeevan Yoga" Series by Doordarshan Girnar

What is Yoga?  How Yoga can be done ?
  Yoga: Advantages and Suggestions
What is Yoga? The common meaning of the word Yoga is 'to join'. This word is derived from the Sanskrit element 'Yuj'.....Yoga means "maintaining balance" in eating, walking etc. That is why it is said that Yoga means balance in life style. 'Samatvam yoga uchyate.'

In addition to this Shree Krishna has given very beautiful and exact definition of Yoga: 'Yogah karmasu kaushalam'. That means Yoga is one where work is done with dexterity. What is this dexterity in Karma? It means whatever you do, the job should be exact, it should not be soft-padded or like a loosely filled bag: whatever you do, do it well, properly organized.
Maharsi Patanjali defines Yoga as control of the leanings of the mind. 'Yogaschitta vrittinirodhah.' This is the highest aspect of Yoga ..........Swami Adhyatmananda << Read More>>

"The formal worship consists of bathing the Lord. Lord Shiva is considered to be the Form of Light (which the Shiva Lingam represents). He is burning with the fire of austerity. He is therefore best propitiated with cool bathing. While bathing the Lingam the devotee prays: “O Lord! I will bathe Thee with water, milk, etc. Do Thou kindly bathe me with the milk of wisdom. Do Thou kindly wash me of all my sins, so that the fire of worldliness which is scorching me may be put out once for all, so that I may be one with Thee—the One alone without a second.” - Swami Sivananda  << Read More>>

Parables of Sri Swami  Sivananda

Parable Of The Ghee-Dyspeptic
A man took too much of ghee during a feast. He became ill. His digestive functions had become paralysed. He went to a doctor. The doctor said to him: "Please bring me one tola of ghee; I will prepare the medicine and give you."
The sick man was wonder-struck; "O doctor, I am suffering only from the effects of too much of ghee-drinking. Why do you wish to add to the trouble?"
"My dear man, please bring the ghee. I will show you what to do with it. The same ghee is your medicine now."

The sick man brought the ghee. The doctor added a few other ingredients to it and administered it in the proper dose. The man was cured. His appetite returned to him.
Similarly, by Karma is man bound to this wheel of birth and death. Egoistic action done with desire for fruits brings about rebirth with all its attendant miseries. The man approaches a saint for a cure. The saint prescribes service, work or Karma again! Can work itself snap the bonds of work? Yes. If the ingredients of selflessness and egolessness are added to it; and if it is done, not for the purpose of securing rewards here or hereafter, but for the purpose of curing one of the dire disease of birth and death. Then it becomes Nishkama Seva that will release man from this cage of Samsara.
