The name of Sri Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi is always known for Truth, Non-violence, and faith; but, what was that foundation of his training about these ethics?

At his young age as a child, he had a great fear of ghosts. In Rajkot he used to refuse to go to school, saying there is a ghost on the tree on the way home.

They had one maid named Rambha. Actually, she was a caretaker and she used to nurse all the family kids of Smt.Putali Bai and Sri Karamchand Gandhi. She embarrassed this young child Mohan and asked him, why you refuse to go to school; it’s all because of the ghost. Remember the very ‘NAME OF RAM’  chant, day and night, no ghost can do anything to you.

Hence, initially with fear and later on with faith, the young Mohan established and settled in his mind in prayer and the repetition of the Holy Name of the "God – RAM".

Revered Bapuji – Gandhiji’s faith in this divine name and power was so much that before his assassination in one of his letter addressed to his friend, he wrote: "In case at the time of my death, if I die
unconsciously, upon the life-supporting system, then feel that I was a big bundle of hypocrisy. But, if I am In prayer or going to and returning from prayer, and someone shoots at me and I die with uttering the holy name Ram on my lips, then you should feel that I was really devoted and dedicated towards the devotion of Sri Ram. And Lo! Really when he was shot dead, he uttered not once but, thrice, "Hey Ram".

He was true to himself, otherwise who will dare to confess that “it was dead night. I was sitting next to my ailing father. He was breathing hard. His condition was that he might not survive for the coming morning. Unfortunately, I had a sexual urge. Though, my wife was pregnant. My being with her was not good for ethics nor for her health or for the baby who was in her womb. But, my misbehaving, was of no use and used to curse me, because when I came back to my ailing father’s room, he was found dead. And, my wife also had a miscarriage. What a pity? what a big shame? That day, onwards Gandhi started respecting his mother publically and her mother's name was "BAA".

Once Gandhiji asked his wife Revered. Kasturba, "I am seeing that for the last three-four days you are not adding SALT in food, why? what is wrong? The reply came from her which was quite strong and very strange to listen to. “One day you say that salt is less, another day salt is more, hence I have just kept the salt container next to you. How much salt you desire to add, you may add and keep quiet." Since that day onwards Revered Bapuji – Revered Mahatma Gandhiji stopped taking SALT in his regular meals. This habit of him continued up to the last breath of his life.

Patriotism is the outward life of individual beings, but, in the foundation of their life, they are made of a very strong structure of the personal discipline. This very discipline can only make oneself bold, full of courage, and the man of truth.
