Deepavali - A Festival of Light, Joy & Illumination (November 9, 2007)

"O man! wake up from the slumber of ignorance. Realise the constant and eternal light of the Soul which neither rises nor sets, through meditation and deep enquiry
.....Celebrate the real Deepavali by living in Brahman, and enjoy the eternal bliss of the soul. The sun does not shine there, nor do the moon and the stars, nor do lightnings shine and much less fire. All the lights of the world cannot be compared even to a ray of the inner light of the Self. Merge yourself in this light of lights and enjoy the supreme Deepavali".- Swami Sivnanda......... << More>>

Deepavali Greetings  (Nov 9, 2007 )  &
"Lakshmi Pujan"
Worship of Goddess Lakshmi( Nov 7, 2007)

Before "Lakshmi Pujan" or Worship of Sri Mahalakshmi, let us understand Her real Nature (Swaroopa). Divine treasure or Real wealth of mankind are fearlessness, purity of heart, steadfastness in the yoga of knowledge, charity, control of the senses, performance of sacrifice, study of the Vedas or holy scriptures, straightforwardness,  non violence, truthfulness, freedom from anger, renunciation, peacefulness, absence of crookedness, compassion for all Living beings, non-covetousness, gentleness, modesty, steady determination, vigor, forgiveness, fortitude, free from envy and absence of pride. All these virtues needs to be cultivated or in other words to have these virtues means to have the possession of the great wealth or real Lakshmi or "Subha Lakshmi."
"Subha Lakshmi"
brings joy, peace, harmony blessedness, natural love, feeling for fellow beings and upliftment of the mankind. Itís full of SATWA. Let us seek the grace of Supreme Blessedness on Lakshmi Poojan day and celebrate Deepavali in real sense.
Om Shanti. -Swami Adhyatmananda

Early Morning Meditation talks from "Ponder These Truths" by Sri Swami Chidananda

Nullifying Embedded impression
....." Embedded impressions of previous pleasant experiences form the root of diversion and temptation. They form the root of losing the path, moving away from the straight path and going into byways, away from blessedness. Therefore there is only one way. These deep-rooted samskaras (mental impressions) and vasanas (subtle desires) must be destroyed at their own level.
..... "There are only two methods of dealing with them. One powerful method is to constantly affirm the Reality. Identify yourself with the true Self, your essential, real Being, which has neither birth nor death. Then the question of previous births and previous impressions itself becomes absurd. This is the super method, constantly identifying yourself with your nitya nija svarupa (own eternal nature) where there is neither upadhi, nor samskara, nor vasana, nothing....
.."The other powerful method is to destroy them where they are through deep meditation and the power of the Divine Name. That is the purpose of japa. This technique of deep meditation and the power of the Divine Name can do the impossible, it can do everything for you ." - Swami Chidananda.... <<More>>

Reflection

"Most people consider the course of events as natural and inevitable. They little know what radical change are possible through prayer. Every morning I offer my body, my mind and any ability that I posses, to be used by Thee, O infinite creator, in whatever way Thou dost choose to express Thyself through me. I know that all work is Thy work, and that no task is too difficult or too menial when offered to Thee in loving service."
- Pramhansa yogananda

Whatever activity you do, do it as the worship of God. God's will alone prevails ultimately. Your future has already been well planned and settled. Whatever life you adopt, please never forget the Lord. Take things as they come. Even in the middle of the world you can practice Sadhana. See God in all. God is everywhere. There is no place where He is not.
-Swami Chidananda
